U.S. car manufacturer, Ford has revealed the newest cars, Ford Escape 2013, ahead of its global debut at the Los Angeles Motor Show 2011 to be launched early in 2013.
The new compact SUV model based on the platform of the Ford Focus and Escape plan will replace the old in Australia and the United States and the Kuga in Europe.
The new Ford Escape has a number of sharp lines typical characteristic design language of “kinetic” Ford and is clearly associated with the new Focus, while the overall shape is an evolution of the Kuga.
Ford claims the new Escape will offer more cabin space and cargo space is larger overall than its predecessor. Escape will also borrows technology that is already visible on the new Focus, such as parallel parking assist sensors and blind spot warning system.
Ford Escape 2013 provides 11 convenience items that are not offered its competitors, such as the protector that will open automatically, if the driver triggers the sensor, when there are collisions on the rear bumper.
The new 2013 Ford Escape will be a strong competitor to rivals like the Subaru Forester, Toyota RAV4, Volkswagen Tiguan and the Mazda CX-7.
Engine with fuel efficiency has also been improved, using 4-cylinder EcoBoost engine, available in the form of 2.0 liters and 1.6 liters. Both engines feature direct fuel injection and turbocharged four-cylinder engine used on the Focus. The standard engine for the Escape in the U.S. market with plans 2.5-liter four-cylinder.
Ford Escape will be imported from Ford’s new plant in Thailand, which will also be a source of future production for Focus, which is still imported from Europe.
2013 Ford Escape will make its debut in Europe as the Ford Kuga at the Geneva Motor Show, in March 2012. SUV Kuga will also adopt the name for the Chinese market.
