Le Mans – Team Audi with car-tech ‘green’ successfully sweep endurance racing 24 hours Le mans in France. Using the Audi R18 e-tron Quattro hybrid diesel-engined, Audi team also managed to put the riders in the top five in the prestigious event.
Audi R18 e-tron Quattro was first introduced in March 2012. This car was given the task of continuing the success of the Audi team in endurance racing 24 hours Le Mans.
Until now, Audi has won the competition 10 times and tried to continue its success with the latest diesel-hybrid cars.
With the support of riders such as Marcel Fassler, Andre Lotterer and Benoit Treluyer, Audi R18 e-tron Quattro successfully became the first hybrid diesel car top spot in the arena of Le Mans.
Not only won the first position, the Audi R18 finished second, third, and fifth in this year’s Le Mans race.
Audi R18 e-tron Quattro is equipped with a V6 TDI diesel engine with a capacity of 3700 cc that drives the rear wheels. This machine is capable of generating power at 510 hp.
Audi also equipped with formula1 feature tech kinetic energy recovery system (KERS), which draws energy from the braking process. Then the energy is used to drive the front axle at high speeds.
With success in the arena of Le Mans, the Audi is it possible to apply the green technology engine of e-tron Quattro R18 into the engine of mass production cars ?.
