BMW X1 Crossover debut at New York Auto Show 2012


 

 

German car manufacturer BMW will release BMW X1 compact crossover or small SUV models in the United States this fall.

BMW North America will bring BMW X1 to the United States with some refreshment. The vehicle was first present three years ago in the European market. BMW X1 to be launched in the New York auto show on Wednesday.

BMW will provide three models, namely X1 sDrive28i rear-wheel drive and four-wheel drive X1 xDrive28i with twin-turbo 2.0-liter inline four-cylinder that produces 240 hp.

There is also X1 xDrive35i AWD version with the twin-turbo 3.0-liter V-6 that produces 300 hp.

BMW X1 goes on sale in Europe in 2009. Previously, BMW U.S. BMW X1 delayed sales in the United States because of unfavorable exchange rates and high demand for vehicles in Europe.

The U.S. BMW executives also did not want the small SUV BMW X1 would eliminating market sales of the redesigned BMW X3 goes on sale in the United States last year.

BMW X1 will compete with Land Rover Evoque and two models that have not been released in the United States, namely the Audi Q3 and Mercedes-Benz vehicle of the MFA, short for Mercedes Front-wheel-drive Architecture.

Other new BMW models on display at the show include an updated BMW X6 M coupe-styled SUV, and a BMW 6 Series Gran Coupe — a new four-door model that seats five. The 2013 X1, an updated version of the model available in other regions, will go on sale in the U.S. this fall with a $31,545 sticker price. That includes $895 destination and handling.
