MICHIGAN – In an effort for improve fuel efficiency, Ford Motor Co (FMC) is planning to embed the material that is lighter materials, namely aluminum on the body pick-up, the latest-generation F-150.
Ford F-150 will become the first Ford vehicle that will use aluminum body. Because the pick-up is the backbone of Ford in the United States (U.S.) since 30 years ago. Thus was launched Inautonews, Sunday (07/29/2012).
By using aluminum body, Ford F-150 new generation will have a much lighter weight than lawasnya generation. Reduction weighs about 700 pounds. With a lighter weight, F-150 was later able to walk up to 19 mpg and 23 mpg on the highway.
Furthermore, to compensate for it, Ford F-150 will carry a more muscular design. With this, Ford believes the aluminum material can provide many advantages in weight reduction and fuel efficiency.
Meanwhile, next-generation Ford F-150 will begin to launch in 2014. Although still early to discuss it further, but Ford believes the future F-150 and other Ford vehicles will use aluminum body.
