Rohingya Muslims

As before, the United Nations re-late to handle cases of genocide, this time against the ethnic Rohingya in Myanmar. The massacre took place in Myanmar which by the United Nations praised for have democracy icon  like Aung San Suu Kyi.

For the first time, the Agency for Human Rights issued a call for the need for an independent investigation for uncover the massacre of ethnic Rohingya in Myanmar. Too late, because many Muslim has die and the world doesn’t care.

The call issued by Chairman of the UN Human Rights Navi Pillay on Friday (7/28/2012), and even then it is too late. Therefore, the massacre had occurred a long time while the United Nations still considers that the act of violence. Pillay said the Myanmar security forces action against Rohingya Muslims in Rakhine region of Myanmar has led to violence against ethnic minorities.

“We have received reports from an independent source of discrimination by the security forces and even acts of violence that is a formal order forces,” Pillay said.

“The report says that the authorities act against the residents have led to violence that targets Muslims, particularly those from the Rohingya community.”

Pillay had just received a report that the number of people who died were 578 men and 70 thousand people homeless. In fact, unofficial reports said the death toll much higher.

Pillay called on the Myanmar government for prevent and crack down on those who commit violence against them. He was concerned that the Myanmar government to support the action, seen from the term that smacks of an insult for mention the Rohingya by the government and mass media, especially by internet users.

It is estimated, as many as 800 thousand Muslim Rohingya live in Myanmar. However, the government considered them as strangers and citizens of Myanmar also call them illegal aliens from Banghladesh.

Rohingya Muslims increasingly worrisome condition because the world does not care. Bangladesh was not willing to accommodate them on the grounds of inadequacy. So many Rohingya refugees repatriated to Bangladesh on arrival in Bangladesh.

Arriving on the beaches of Bangladesh, they were rounded up and guarded by heavily armed officers. At gunpoint they were lined up and then given a packet of rice and a bottle of drinking water.

The officer, who on average carrying semi-automatic assault rifle used in the war, then herded them onto the dock. After that they were ordered to go into the canoes are far from decent to cross the ocean. Command, entered the boat and then return to the sea.

Where does the Muslims powerless destination ? do not know and of course it’s no concern to Bangladesh. No matter where they go clearly Bangladesh can not be bothered

Obviously Rohingya muslim confused they didn’t know where have to go. Therefore, they are not accepted in Myanmar and even tortured in Bangladesh also expelled. There was no choice but to ride the boat and end up adrift in an ocean. Many of them killed and buried at sea.

Where Suu Kyi?

Meanwhile, where is the figure symbol of world peace from Myanmar, Aung San Suu Kyi? Where is the figure who praised by the world, since receiving the Nobel Peace Prize is now located? How is her consideration about the Muslims in that country?

Of course Suu Kyi was busy receiving compliments that came and went after her release from prison. ‘The Lady’ it was busy enjoying the adulation as a symbol of democracy in Myanmar. So busy that she did not have the time, though to simply open her mouth.

Therefore, Suu Kyi has been criticized by her own supporters as democracy icon was reluctant to make a statement with respect to military repression against the Muslim Rohingya.

Activist Human rights groups accuses Suu Kyi was deliberately evasive and silent on the issue of humanity and mistreatment by government forces against ethnic Rohingya. Though the United Nations is now consider Rohingya the most persecuted ethnic in the world.

Suu Kyi, has been reluctant to act against acts of the President of Myanmar Thein Sein. Whereas the former army general’s support policies that encourage the elimination of ethnicity. Thein Sein said that around 800 thousand ethnic Rohingya must be placed in refugee camps and sent to the Bangladesh border. That means, the ethnic Muslim Rohingya in Myanmar should not be present.

One Response to Rohingya Muslims were massacred, where the UN and Aung San Suu Kyi?

  1. Everything seems to depend on the mcanteninae of free trade, which seems to be undermining our democracy and manufacturing base here at home. Has WRM really thought this thing through? I won’t presume to speak for WRM (good grief, I can barely speak for myself sometimes). But so far at least in Burma the trends towards freer trade and greater political liberalization seem to be moving in tandem. Which is a good deal more than one could EVER say of our free trade with mainland China. Of course it’s likely much too early to tell, but at this stage my gut instinct suggests at least two cheers are in order for the Trans-Pacific Partnership. Speaking of which (and not that it’s any of MY business, but) do you suppose we might in future refrain from language about ententes and how cordial they’re getting however much some of us may genuinely approve of both? I know that for me both noun and adjective are a little too resonant of a certain 1914 for personal comfort. And I believe I’m as enthusiastic a Great Gamer as anybody. And yet isn’t that the whole point of playing the Game, as I understand both Britain and Russia played it in the 19th century that your rival can be by turns and for different purposes both your competitor AND your collaborator? In any case, I’m sure lots of us would much prefer the analogy of China playing Tsarist Russia to our Tory Britain, as opposed to (God help us all) China playing Wilhelmine Germany to our Wilsonian America.
